About College

The Hyderabad Karnataka Education society was established in the year 1958, with the objective of imparting higher education, specially in the Technical and Medical fields to this part of karnatak, which was once a part of erstwhile Hyderabad State. The district of Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur & Koppal comprising of Hyderabad Karnataka region is identified to be a backward part of karnataka state. The District ranks lowest in the state literacy ranking. Therefore, the founding fathers of the society rightly identified the need to accelerate the social and economic development through educational advancements. True to the sprit, today the society runs over 40 and more educational institutions with various faculties like Medical, Engineering, Dental, Pharmacy, Homeopathic, Nursing, Law, Management, Education, Arts, Science, Commerce & Homescience including a seperate womens college.

Smt.Veeramma Gangasiri college of Arts, Science, Commerce and Home Science for woman, is the first and only college in the entire region of Hyderabad Karnataka area, established in the year 1965, with the affiliation of karnataka University, dharwad, with the magnificant donation from Basawanappa Gangasiri. Therefore the college was named after the donor's mother Smt. Veeramma Gangasiri.

The college now affiliated to Karnataka State Womens University Bijapur and also Board of Pre-University Education, Banglore, Provides education in Arts, Science, Commerce & Homescience. This is one of the most standard college in the state to have an independent undergraduate courses in Microbiology, Homescience, Biotechnology, Electronics, Computer science and Clinical Nutrition & Dietitics (CND). This is the second college in the state to have introduced Biotechnology Courses and Clinical Nutrition & Dietics.

The College has well equiped laboratories and most modern facilities and teaching aids including a well developed library with wide range of books, besides, the college provides hostel facilities for a limited numbers of girls, campus adjacent to the college.

The college emphasises the need for physical well being through NCC, NSS, Games & Sports facilites for the students and also desires to train them as "Carreer Women" with the essence of Strong and close knit family and society. Thus the training is harmonious blending of academic excellence leading to career development of Women.

Our college comes under 2F and 12 B of UGC Act and accredited with B++ Grade by NAAC, Banglore, 2004
